🚌 General & About

SakayGuide is a free, mobile-friendly commuter-information website for Philippine transport. It shows live jeepney and tricycle fares, gas station prices, terminal locations, traffic conditions, and traffic-aware route planning β€” currently focused on Intramuros, Manila (MapΓΊa University area).

No. SakayGuide is a non-official reference tool. It is not affiliated with the LTFRB, Manila LGU, DOE, TomTom, GasWatchPH, or any government agency. Always verify information with the driver or local authority before relying on it.

  • LTFRB Order March 2026 β€” jeepney fares
  • Manila LGU Ord. No. 8979 β€” tricycle fares
  • GasWatchPH β€” live fuel prices and advisories
  • TomTom β€” traffic flow, incidents, and routing
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim β€” map tiles and place search
  • ipapi.co / ip-api.com β€” approximate IP location fallback

Yes β€” SakayGuide is free for all commuters and will remain so during its launch stage. Basic fare, terminal, and route information is a public service and will never be paywalled.

In the future, clearly labeled sponsorships or partnerships may appear, but they will never change fare calculations or route results.

Currently, the terminal map, sample routes, and fare focus are on Intramuros, Manila (MapΓΊa University area). Gas prices are nationwide via GasWatchPH. Route planning and traffic work anywhere TomTom coverage is available.

πŸ’° Fares

Per the LTFRB Order March 2026:

  • Traditional jeepney: β‚±14.00 for the first 4 km, then β‚±2.00 per succeeding km
  • Modern jeepney: β‚±17.00 for the first 4 km, then β‚±2.30 per succeeding km

Per the Manila LGU fare matrix (Ord. No. 8979): β‚±16.00 flagdown for the first kilometer, then β‚±5.00 per succeeding 500 m (β‚±10/km).

We keep fares updated to the latest published LTFRB and Manila LGU rates and show the source and date on the dashboard. However, rates can change, and actual driver fares may vary. Always confirm with the driver before boarding.

Fares can vary by operator, barangay, time of day, or because of additional charges for luggage or special trips. Our estimates follow published official rates and may not reflect every local rule. If you were overcharged, you may report it to the LTFRB or your local LGU.

β›½ Gas Prices

Fuel prices come from GasWatchPH, combining community-reported prices and official data. SakayGuide runs its own proxy that downloads and refreshes this data automatically.

The GasWatch data refreshes every 5 minutes while the backend is running. The dashboard also re-fetches on load and every few minutes. Pump prices typically change every Tuesday in the Philippines.

They show the week-over-week change in the national average price. β–² means prices went up, β–Ό means they went down, compared with the previous week's data.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Route Planner & Traffic

Set your start and destination (by GPS, nearby terminal, or pin on the map), pick a transport mode, and SakayGuide uses TomTom routing to estimate distance, travel time with traffic, and the applicable fare.

No β€” location access is optional. You can type or search a destination and pin points on the map without GPS. If you allow location, we use it only to prefill your start point and show nearby terminals.

If TomTom routing is unavailable, SakayGuide falls back to a straight-line estimate so you still get a distance, ETA, and fare. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap; if the GasWatch backend is offline, fuel features show a clear error message.

⭐ Saved Routes & Places

Everything you save is stored in your browser's local storage on your device only. It is not uploaded to any server and is not visible to us.

Open the Saved section and press the βœ• button on any place or route. You can also clear all saved data by clearing your browser's site data.

πŸ” Privacy & Location

No. We do not collect or store your individual travel history. As part of our growth plan we may count anonymous events (e.g., a fare was calculated, a route was completed) β€” never tied to who you are, and only with your consent.

Only when you ask β€” such as pressing "Near Me" or allowing location detection β€” and only to show nearby stations or set your start pin. If you decline, we use an approximate IP-based location or the default Intramuros center. See the Privacy Policy.

No. We never sell your data. Information is shared only with the third-party services needed to fulfill your request (for example, sending your route coordinates to TomTom).

πŸ“ˆ Launch & Support

No. SakayGuide stays free for commuters. Any future sponsorship or featured listing will be clearly labeled and will never change fare calculations or route results. Basic fare, terminal, route, and traffic information always remains free.

Your reports help us keep data accurate. Use our feedback channel to report: outdated fares, missing or wrong terminal locations, incorrect gas prices, or routing problems. Please include the location, mode, and what you observed so we can verify and update quickly.

See the Roadmap for our planned path β€” route finder and fare-matrix export (v1.1), fuel history charts and mode comparison (v1.2), community reports and alerts (v1.3), and expansion to more municipalities plus mobile apps (v1.4+).

We plan to work with campus and community partners, and later with schools, LGUs, and verified local services. Partnerships are meant to sustain the free tool β€” they never affect fare or route results. Check the About page for our launch phases and positioning.
